The X Spiral Membrane System is the first affordable nanofiltration membrane recovery system (OSN) for the hemp market. Membranes provide numerous advantages in efficiency, versatility, and workflow for bulk solvent recovery and decarboxylation.

FEATURES

  • Complete Control Over Product Purity
The X-Spiral gives operators full control over concentration of solution.
  • No Solvent Phase Change
Creates greatly reduced energy use that lowers operating expenditure and raises profit margins.
  • All In One Skid Including Utilities
No boiler or cooling tower necessary means greatly reduced startup and commissioning time.
  • Highly Efficient
Unique dual pump system only uses a third of the energy of other single pump systems.
  • Full Parameter Control
Design features and mounted HMI provide ease of use and optimal workflow.
  • Affordable Membranes
X-Spiral uses lower cost membranes than many competitors.

SciPhy Systems Construction:

Based on the feed details and according to your request, the material of construction that
contacts the feed material is SS316. Seal material is Viton unless otherwise specified. Frame is
of painted carbon steel construction.

System Process:

The device can separate waxs from a dilute solution of typically 10 parts or greater ethanol to
1 part botanical extract oils achieving similar results as cold precipitation methods. To achieve
this the system utilizes a high pressure cross-flow filtration loop through four membrane filter
housings to perform a size-exclusion filtration of waxes, fats, and other large molecules out of
a solution of crude oil in ethanol. The process is performed at a moderate temperature under
high pressure and includes two pump stages; one for the pressurization of the system and a
second for circulation making the unit very energy efficient as opposed to single pump designs.
Concentrated wax in solution is discharged to waste tankage, target compound solution is
discharged to product holding tank. All tankage to be provided by the client.

This unit has the capacity for both dewaxing and decoloring crude oils, with the understanding
these are two different functions requiring two different types of filters. The same housing can
be used for both functions, but this would require swapping filters in between batches, which
takes approximately an hour each time. The more efficient alternative is to buy two housing
units and put the appropriate filters in each for continuous throughput.

Feed Material:

Feed material: Ethyl-Alcohol (ETOH) and botanical oils solution at a solvent to solute ratio of
10:1 (9% oil in ethanol by volume) or higher
